João Nicolau de Almeida's family has been present in the production of Porto and Douro wines for at least 5 generations.
Fernando Nicolau de Almeida, João's father, was the creator of Barca Velha from Casa Ferreira. Later, João was committed in the study and modernization of Douro viticulture and winemaking giving rise to the Duas Quintas wines from Casa Ramos Pinto.
Today, together with his sons, he produces Quinta do Monte Xisto wine, which is based on organic and biodynamic agriculture. The estate is located in the Upper Douro, Vila Nova de Foz Côa, on the left bank of the Douro River.
Quinta do Monte Xisto wines will be presented first hand by João Nicolau de Almeida, at The Yeatman Wine Dinner, on the 26th November. The pairing will be guaranteed by our Executive Chef, Ricardo Costa, who will prepare a delightful tasting menu accordingly to the selected wines for that evening.
Dinner starts with a Welcome Cocktail at 7:30pm, followed by dinner, served at 8pm in events room with panoramic views overlooking Porto and the Douro river.
